Events in Hannover

One of the things that I really enjoyed about living in Hannover was that there is always something on in the city. The very first weekend that I arrived it was Carneval which is a big street parade where people dress up and parade through the city on floats. I was a good first impression of the city as it gave the impression that there was Hannover was a very fun city. Over the next few months there was everything from the International Food Fair at the University to Frülings Fest near the football stadium.

I really liked the fact that the change of the seasons was celebrated in Hannover, for example the Oesterfeuers held around the city to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

The May Day festival at the Faust music venue had a really great atmosphere. Although the music there wasn’t my taste, it was nice to sit around with friends, drinking beer and trying the food from the various food stalls.

The liveliness of the city is definitely something I will miss, as well as the people that I was able to spend these times with.
